Keep your car healthy for longer with these tips
Got a kitten/adult cat at home? Just adopted or bought a cat? Our vets are happy to advise you and explore how to provide the best possible care!
If your cat was born after 31 August 2014, you are obliged by law to have them neutered within five months of their birth. What’s more, since 2017, you must also have your cat chipped and registered with CatID, the central database. Should you ever lose your cat, this will also enable you to prove that they are yours if someone finds them. We can help you get your cat chipped.
As with dogs, it is a good idea to protect your cat against various infectious diseases.
We recommend protecting your cat against the following diseases
The first vaccination takes place around eight weeks of age. Your kitten will then get their second and third vaccine at 12 and 16 weeks of age. After that, you need to repeat these vaccinations annually. Our vets will top up any vaccinations during your cat’s annual check-up.
We also recommend that you check your cat regularly for parasites. Worms are common in cats and can cause unpleasant symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and weight loss. What’s more, you and your children may also be at risk. As such, it’s important to seek advice from our vets, so we can work with you to draw up a vaccination schedule.
Fleas and ticks might crawl into your cat’s fur from time to time, and you won’t necessarily be able to see them straightaway. Fleas can cause itching, red skin, and in extreme cases even anaemia. Ticks can also harm your cat: they might transmit dangerous diseases, for example. As such, it is important to combat these parasites adequately and take preventive action.
If your cat is scratching, losing their fur or showing other signs of external parasites, contact us and we will help you straightaway.
